  Gliding Club

Did you ever dream of flying with eagles? Morawa is the only gliding club in the Northern Wheatbelt.

The soaring opportunities at Morawa are equal to the best you will find anywhere. The open country combined with high temperatures, allows cross country flights of 500km and over, with the gliders remaining aloft for 5 hours or more and height gains to over 10,000 feet. Flights of almost any duration are possible through the technique of soaring. Soaring is a method of flight where the pilot releases from the towing medium (either tow plane, winch or auto tow) and gains height by entering areas of rising bubbles of warm air. These bubbles will take a glider up to nearly unlimited heights. From an attained height, the pilot will fly the glider towards an area that he or she thinks may yield another ‘thermal’ and once again gain altitude.

New members, or anyone wishing to try a flight are always welcome at the Morawa Gliding Club. Flying operations are on most Sunday’s from 10am and anyone wishing to come and have a look or a flight should contact one of the Flying Instructors.
