- Dogs must be restrained on a leash in public places at all times.
A dog attack is a very serious matter. If your dog attacks a person or other animal, you will be held responsible, even if you were not there at the time. There are very substantial penalties of up to $10,000 and/ or 12 months jail for a dog attack or inciting a dog attack.
Ranger
Council contracts ranger duties to Canine Control, who conduct random month patrols in the Morawa townsite.
Pound
If your dog wanders from home, it may be picked up by the Shire Ranger or Shire of Morawa employees and taken to the pound.
The Council pound is situated within the confines of the Shire of Morawa Depot on Valentine Street. Fees are imposed on all impounded animals and are payable to the Shire Council before the release of the animal.
Please refer to Schedule of Fees and Charges for current Fees.
After 72 hours, an impounded animal, if not claimed or released, is disposed of. |
