Council contracts ranger duties to Canine Control, who conduct random monthly patrols in the Morawa townsite.

If your dog wanders from home, it may be picked up by the Shire Ranger or Shire of Morawa employees and taken to the pound.

If your dog is placed in the pound you must pay an impound fee, registration fees and microchipping fees if applicable at the Shire Administration Office before the dog can be released. If your dog is impounded for more than 72 hours (3 days) the dog may be re-homed or destroyed.

The dog pound closes at 3:30pm from Monday to Friday. If your dog is impounded late Friday afternoon, the dog will remain in the pound over the weekend and keeping fees will apply.
