In August 2024, the Shire of Morawa is set to host the Morawa Art Awards and Exhibition once again. This 10-day showcase at the Morawa Town Hall will spotlight the diverse artistic talents of local and interstate artists.
Following the success of the 8th Biennial Art Awards & Exhibition in 2022, which featured over 130 participating artists, the event solidified its position as one of the Mid West region's largest and most vibrant visual arts displays. The Shire of Morawa aims for the 9th exhibition to build on this success, attracting a broad range of entries across multiple categories. In 2024, the Morawa Art Awards and Exhibition will be professionally curated, offering a substantial prize pool of $20,000, including the prestigious Shire of Morawa Acquisitive Award with a $7,500 prize. Submissions of original and new works (post-2022) are welcomed from both local and Western Australian artists.
Categories include:
- Works on Paper
- Works on Canvas
- Three Dimensional Artwork
- Mixed Media
- The Tony Tropiano Photography Award
- Young Art (5-12) &
- Youth Art (13-18)
The Awards will also feature special recognitions like the Mid West Indigenous Prize (Acquisitive) and the Best Local Artwork award. These awards aim to support and foster artistic talent within the local community.
To facilitate participation, a convenient drop-off and collection point for artwork is available in both the Perth Metro area and Geraldton, with complimentary professional transport for artworks to and from the exhibition.
