Koolanooka Springs Campsite
To reach Koolanooka Springs, travel east from Morawa along Jones Lake Road, turn left onto Fallon Road, then right onto Koolanooka Springs Road. The campground is located approximately 28km from the Morawa townsite, nestled at the base of the Koolanooka Hills.
The campsite is accessible via gravel road and is generally suitable for 2WD vehicles, however a 4WD is recommended especially during the wetter months.
Koolanooka Springs is a free campsite for self-sufficient travellers, with no access to fresh drinking water available on site. Dogs are welcome but must remain on a leash at all times.
Facilities include an ablution block and wood BBQs, making it an ideal location to relax and enjoy the surrounding scenery and native plant life.
Please check the Shire of Morawa website or Facebook Page for any current fire restrictions or unsealed road closures before travelling.
Koolanooka Springs is also the perfect place to star gaze, with the area’s Sky Quality Meter reading being : 21.25 magnitude per arcsecond2 recorded on 16 July 2018. Thanks to our friends at Astro Tourism WA ‘A Sky Quality Meter (SQM) reading of 20 or 21 indicates a dark sky where stargazing is at its best and the stars of the Milky Way are clearly visible.’ https://astrotourismwa.com.au/sky-quality-meter-reading/
