Each household may collect one bag (containing 3x 100g sachets) of Racumin® Paste baits from the Shire Administration Office during opening hours (8:30am–4:30pm). Please note: • Baits are available to local residents only • One bag per household • Each sachet includes important safety and usage instructions – please read carefully before use • A register will be maintained to ensure fair and consistent distribution • While we currently hold a substantial supply, once stock is exhausted, no further baits will be available We appreciate the community’s continued cooperation and proactive efforts in managing the current mouse issue across the district.

Please be advised that Prater Street will be temporarily closed from Dreghorn Street to Gill Street from 10am-11.45am on Saturday, 25 April 2026 for the ANZAC day Service. Community members are welcome to attend the ANZAC day Service at the War memorial on Prater Street, which will commence at 10.45am, hosted by the Morawa-Gutha RSL Sub Branch.

The Shire of Morawa is pleased to formally acknowledge the investment of $200,000 from the State Government’s Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development Regional Economic Development (RED) Grant program for the Morawa Early Childhood Education and Family Centre.

With mouse activity on the rise across Morawa and the wider WA cropping regions, we know this is causing stress for households and businesses. We would like to thank the community for another outstanding season at the Morawa Swimming Pool, with our final day of operation being this Sunday, 19 April 2026. This season saw a fantastic range of activities and events, including the Morawa District High School Interhouse swimming carnival, swim club, swimming lessons, morning lap swimming and plenty of opportunities to cool off during the hot summer months. We look forward to welcoming back our Pool Manager, Ashton, and the community when we reopen in October for the 2026–2027 season!

The Shire of Morawa Administration Office will be closed from Friday, 3 April 2026, reopening at 12:00pm on Tuesday, 7 April 2026. -Emails and phone calls will be monitored on Tuesday morning. -Please note: Department of Transport services will not be available during this time. The Swimming Pool will be closed Friday 3 April & Monday 6 April 2026 and the Landfill will be closed on Friday 3 April 2026. We wish everyone a safe and happy Easter!

Following the closure of our Extraordinary Local Government Election on Thursday 26 March 2026, we would like announce that Naomi Francis has been elected as our newest Shire councillor.

We urge all residents to download the Emergency WA App to keep up to date with all warnings, www.emergency.wa.gov.au. Current forecasts, as of Thursday 26 March 2026 shows that weather conditions will peak over Morawa, Saturday 28 March 2026, with heavy thunderstorms and damaging winds. Morawa currently in an Advice category (Yellow- An incident is active, be aware and keep up to date), as of 5.00pm 26/3/26.

With severe weather conditions expected to build over the weekend, now is the time to prepare.

Forecasts are predicting that Ex-Tropical Cyclone Narelle may impact the Midwest region, including Morawa with heavy rainfall, strong winds and storms from Thursday 26 March 2026. We encourage all residents to be prepared for the incoming weather conditions.

Due to a planned power outage by Western Power to undertake essential maintenance, all Shire Facilities including the Community Gym, Rec Centre and Swimming Pool will be closed on Sunday, 15 March 2026 from estimated 7.00am- 5.30pm. These interruptions will affect all caravan park facilities include powered sites, chalets and units, camp kitchen and ablution blocks. We thank the community for their understanding.

Please be advised that the Morawa- Yalgoo Road within the Shire of Yalgoo is currently closed due to a fire. If you are planning to travel to Yalgoo, please seek an alternative route and exercise caution while travelling. Residents who are eligible to vote in the upcoming Extraordinary Election will be receiving their postal voting packages in the mail. Your vote counts and we encourage all residents to ensure they vote for their chosen candidate to fill our last vacant councilor position. Following the closure of nominations, 2 candidates have been nominated for the one vacant Shire Councillor position. As a result, an Extraordinary Election will be held via a postal vote on Thursday, 26 March 2026. Ballot papers will be mailed to eligible electors, with voting conducted by post or hand delivered at the Shire Administration Office on election day. We encourage all residents to participate and have their say in shaping the future of our community.

The shire would like to advise town residents of Morawa town site sewage maintenance works commencing Monday 16th February finishing Wednesday 18th February. There will be no interruptions to water.

Please be advised that pool opening hours will slightly change for the next week starting today due to scheduled swimming lessons. Updated hours are outlined in the revised opening hours flyer. Please note the pool will also be closed on the afternoon of Wednesday the 18th February 2026. Morning opening hours and swimming lessons will continue as planned on this day. Normal operating hours are expected to resume following the lesson program, which finishes on the 20th February 2026.

All nominations must be lodged in person with the Returning Officer between 2.00pm-4.00pm today, Tuesday 10 February 2026 at the Shire Administration Office at 26 Winfield Street, Morawa.

Due to current weather conditions, all Shire of Morawa unsealed roads will remain closed to vehicle over 4.5 TONNES from 8:30am today, Tuesday 10 February 2026. Roads conditions will be reviewed regularly.

Footpath construction works will begin on Prater Street on Monday 9 February 2026.

An Extraordinary Postal Election will be held on Thursday, 26 March 2026 in the Shire of Morawa to fill the councillor vacancy.
