Morawa Youth Centre

The Morawa Youth Centre is a dedicated space for youth, aged between 8 years and 18 years, to relax and have fun in a safe and engaging environment. Two types of programs operate from this facility:  

  • The After School Program operates each week during the school term. 
  • The School Holiday Program operates for set days during each school holiday period.

 

We have teamed up with the JK Foundation who will be hosting our School Holiday Program will run from Monday 6 July 2026 to Friday 17 July 2026. 

Programs are for local youth aged 8 years and above.

Monday 6 July Community Banner Project at the Youth Centre 10am-12pm

Young People will contribute to a community banner celebrating NAIDOC Week. Participants will explore themes of culture, community and belonging while creating a lasting piece of artwork for the Morawa community

Tuesday 7 July Basket Ball Clinic at the Rec Centre 11am-1pm

A fun and active session focused on basketball skills, teamwork, sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles. Suitable for all skill levels.

Wednesday 8 July Youth Centre- Drop in session at the Youth Centre 3pm- 5.30pm Drop-in session with games, sport, music and social activities. A safe space for young people to connect with friends and youth workers.
Thursday 9 July  Photo Embroidery Workshop at the Youth Centre with Midwest artist Leah Vlatko 10.30pm- 12pm Participants will learn creative embroidery techniques using photographs, combining art, storytelling and self-expression. Facilitated by artist Leah Vlatko
Thursday 9 July  Weaving & Pom Pom Workshop at the Youth Centre with Midwest artist Leah Vlatko 1.30pm-3pm

A creative, hands-on workshop facilitated by Midwest artist Leah Vlatko. Young people will explore weaving and pom pom making using cardboard looms, creating items such as wall hangings, coasters, and accessories. The session promotes creativity, patience, and self-expression in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Friday 10 July Pizza Making and Youth Centre open session at the Youth Centre 3pm-5.30pm

Participants will learn basic food preparation skills while making their own pizzas before enjoying recreational activities with friends.

Monday 13 July Youth Centre Open session at the Youth Centre 3pm-5.30pm

Recreational activities, games and social connection in a supervised environment.

Tuesday 14 July Minute to Win it Challenge at the Youth Centre 11am-1pm

Participants will compete individually and in teams in a series of fun, fast-paced challenges designed to test coordination, concentration, teamwork and problem-solving skills. The activity promotes positive social interaction, resilience and healthy competition in a fun and supportive environment.

Wednesday 15 July  Youth Centre Open Session at the Youth Centre  3pm-3.30pm

Drop-in session with games, sport, music and social activities. A safe space for young people to connect with friends and youth workers.

Thursday 16 July Community Banner Project at the Youth Centre 10am-12pm

Participants will complete the community banner and celebrate their contribution to a collaborative artwork reflecting local identity and community spirit.

Friday 17 July Movie Afternoon and Youth Centre Open Session at the Youth Centre 3pm-5.30pm

A relaxed end-of-program event featuring a family-friendly movie, snacks and social activities.

We're excited to announce that we have teamed up with the crew from the JK Foundation, who will be running after-school programs at the Morawa Youth Centre!

Please note that these programs are aimed at older youth.

With the Monday & Wednesday sessions for youth in School Years 6 plus, Friday's program will be for youth aged 8 plus.

Youth Centre Membership Forms

It's important that the Shire can contact parents or guardians if the need arises.  For most programs held within town, parent permission is covered through the memberships forms below that will be updated at the beginning of each calendar year.  Please send a completed membership form with you child when they first come to the youth centre.
