Canna
Located 43km north-east of Morawa is the historic townsite of Canna, which was originally build as a Railway Siding town. A visit to the old-style General Store is a must, featuring the unique attraction of a tree growing through the wall. The Canna Store operated from 1929 until 2003 and remains a fascinating glimpse into the area’s history.
Be sure to snap a photo with the Big Flowers of Canna or take time to explore the historic Canna Hall and Lutheran Church. Pack your walking boots and spend the day discovering the abundance of wildflowers that grow naturally throughout the area, including spectacular fields of everlastings, elusive native orchids, and the unique wreath flowers.
There are also walking trails to explore throughout the reserve. To help preserve these beautiful wildflowers for everyone to enjoy, please do not pick the orchids or wreath flowers and remain on the designated paths to avoid damaging the surrounding vegetation.
Please note that the region’s wildflowers grow naturally, and the annual display is dependent on seasonal rainfall throughout the year.
Local residents Paul and Sue Offszanka have extensive knowledge of the region’s wildflowers and can assist visitors with information on the walking trails throughout the Canna Reserve.
