Canna Townsite Camping Area
During the Wildflower Season (July to October), accommodation and camping within Morawa can become very busy.
Visitors seeking an alternative short-term camping option are encouraged to stay at the Canna Townsite Camping Area.
Located approximately 40km north of Morawa, travellers can access the site via Offszanka Road, with the camping area situated a further 3km along at the historic Canna townsite.
Facilities at the site include an ablution block with hot showers, flushing toilets, and drinking water. Visitors can also access a BBQ area (please bring your own gas bottle) and 15-amp power outlets, available for use via donation. There is also a picnic area and walking trails which, at the right time of year, come alive with beautiful native orchids. Be sure to check out the information sign at the Canna Hall campsite to help identify the different orchid varieties on display.
To help preserve these unique wildflowers for everyone to enjoy, please do not pick the orchids or wreath flowers and remain on the designated trails to avoid damaging the surrounding vegetation.
Please note:
- The camping area is intended for single overnight stays only.
- No bookings are required unless travelling as part of a caravan club group.
- Sites operate on a self-serve basis.
- The nearest water refill point, dump point, and rubbish disposal facilities are located in Morawa, at the Southern entrance of town.
Visitors are encouraged to follow “Canna WA – Wildflower Country” on Facebook for seasonal updates and local information.
Please also check the Shire of Morawa website “Latest News” section for any current fire restrictions and unsealed road closures before travelling.
In a good season, the surrounding wildflowers create a spectacular and picturesque display throughout the region.
There is also an overflow camping area at the Canna Old Campsite for self-sufficient campers looking to camp among the wildflowers, just down the road heading back to Morawa from the Canna Townsite Camping area.
Please note there is no ablution facilities or running water at this camp site and campers must be fully self-sufficient.
