With the current mouse situation throughout the Midwest and wider areas the Department of Health have updated their information on dealing with mice and rats.

•Safe handling and use of pesticides – use mouse baits safely, always follow the label instructions, use gloves and wash hands after handling. Please be aware ‘Mouseoff’ or Black seed is a dangerous pesticide that creates a toxic gas when wet and is for use in rural areas only.
•Safe handling of dead mice – Wear disposable gloves, closed shoes, long sleeves and a face mask when dealing with dead mice.
•Proper disposal – Seal dead mice in a bag or wrap in newspaper before placing them in the red lid rubbish bin, then wash your hands.
•Cleaning tips –Remove droppings, wipe away urine and disinfect surfaces carefully. Wash bedding and clothing in hot water after contact with mouse droppings or urine.
